The Downstairs Living Room

I love colour and mixing patterns and styles, as I think I already mentioned—so it’s no wonder that our downstairs living room is also very colourful, as well as full of wallpaper.

This is the wallpaper that Carrie used in her renovated apartment in the “And Just Like That” series:

It was designed by Sarah Jessica Parker, and once I saw it, I fell so in love that I just had to buy it.

I feel like it instantly puts you in a good mood.

The rest of the room is painted in this very bright turquoise colour, which I absolutely love. To tie everything together, we added dark green velvet curtains to give the room a cozier feel without taking too much light away.

Our sofa and lounge chairs are upholstered in a white linen fabric, which reminds me of a house by the beach, where you often see these kinds of fabrics being used.

The floral rug is from Ruggable:

They sell great rugs that are very easy to clean (which is essential with small kids!).

The bookshelf is filled with my pride and joy—my Vogue collection. I LOVE VOGUE. Yes, I’m one of those girls who buys them all, in every language, and still loves it. This collection is always the point where movers start wondering if you’ve got all your marbles, as those lovely magazines are heavier than some pieces of furniture. But believe me—they’re worth it!

My husband also bought me the Vogue issue from my birth month and year—this one has its own shelf, as it is very special to me.

What quirks or special pieces do you have that always have to move with you? And do you prefer lots of colour and mixing, or do you need a calmer, cleaner space to relax?

Can’t wait to hear your replies.

Lots of love,

Alisa
