Resting Area
We created this little resting corner for a few moments of calm.
With two little kids and one baby on the way, we hardly ever have time to rest. But with this little corner, we sometimes manage to enjoy a few peaceful and quiet moments.
The chair and the cupboard are from my room at my father’s house when he was living in Dubai.
I really love the design and think it is so special to have these pieces for such a long time, knowing that they have travelled a bit and carry some history with them — including worn edges and scratches.
The tree is actually a fig tree and has a name — yes, a name! I’m not very good with plants, but I figured out that once I name them, they tend to live longer.
So his name is Walter. And our girls love to go to Walter and talk to him about his new leaves and how he slept, which I think is adorable.
We live right next to a soccer field, so when you sit in the chair and don’t feel like reading, you can literally watch a soccer game almost any time of the day.
We recently had the ceiling painted in a bronze colour, which makes the room feel much calmer, I think.
What is your little sacred corner in your house? And what do you need in a room or space to make it feel truly calm to you?
Can’t wait to hear your thoughts.
Lots of love,
Alisa
